The website of Leibniz University Hannover is designed in line with Lower Saxony laws on disability equality (NBGG) to implement directive (EU) 2016/102 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and provide content in an accessible form wherever possible.

Explanation

  • A large volume of PDF documents were published prior to 23.09.2018 and could not yet be converted to an accessible format. These are gradually being adapted.
  • As of yet, it has not been possible to present videos with audio description. Such implementation is also planned.
  • Documents provided by external organisations may not be accessible.
  • Some sections and elements on this website (template elements) are not yet fully accessible. These limitations in accessibility will gradually be removed as best possible during ongoing updates and extensive upgrades.

Assessing accessibility

Evaluation of content published on our website is based on a self-assessment. The template on which the website is based (technical framework) has been assessed by an external testing body with regard to conformity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, conformity level AA. This statement will be revised annually.

Arbitration

Should the response received from the abovementioned contact be unsatisfactory, you can contact the arbitration office (set up by the Commissioner for Matters relating to Persons with Disabilities of Lower Saxony) to request initiation of an arbitration procedure in accordance with state laws on disability equality (NBGG).

As per state laws (section 9 d NBGG), the arbitration office aims to settle disputes between persons with disabilities and public sector bodies in Lower Saxony concerning accessibility in IT. The arbitration procedure is free of charge. Legal counsel is not required.
